Andragogy Versus Pedagogy

The current debate on the role of teaching in the 21st century in developing over pedagogical and androgogical approaches to management development and program design. Pedagogical learning involves teacher directed practices and teacher control of processes. Androgogical learning involves adult learner decision making about what, how, where, when and why of learning (Knowles, Holton & Swanson, 2005). The various learning theorists that readers may have read about bring a variety of perspectives and ideas to how adults learn and the best methods to teach them. Pedagogy targets young learners while andragogy targets adult learners.
