David Horsburgh, An Inspiring Educational Reformer

David Horsburgh was a path-breaking educational reformer who inspired activity-based learning processes in many schools in India. In 1972, he set up an innovative school called Neel Bagh in Kolar District in rural Karnataka. In Neel Bagh, teachers acted as facilitators of learning. Children learned at their own pace with the help of rich activity-enhancing resources, a well-maintained library and a versatile curriculum. Due to the efforts of David Horsburgh and his team, many state primary government schools have incorporated activity-based approaches to enhance learning.
